Michael Carter Sr.
Michael Carter Sr., an Atlanta native, holds a degree in Political Science from Georgia State University and a Master’s in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University. With nearly three decades in law enforcement, he has dedicated his career to mentoring young officers, helping them excel in their specialized fields.
Beyond his official duties, Carter Sr. actively works to strengthen community relations through “Clippers and Cops,” a nonprofit organization he helped to get off the ground in 2018. The program focuses on bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community by fostering open conversations, addressing concerns, and humanizing officers as individuals with shared experiences. He frequently volunteers his time to speak with middle and high school students, covering critical topics such as conflict resolution, violence prevention, the dangers of guns and drugs, and the importance of education as a member of Clippers and Cops during their well known, “School Campus Invasion”.
As a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Carter Sr. embodies its motto: “Friendship is essential to the soul.” His guiding philosophy, especially when advising his son, Michael Carter II, is to “refuse to accept mediocrity” and to “embrace challenges as a way to grow stronger”.
