My name is Lisa Felder, but I'm better known as "Mama Lisa."

Reflecting on my breast cancer diagnosis, I surprisingly find myself grateful for it. It might be challenging to comprehend how I can find solace in something that brought so much pain and suffering, but I want to explain why I've chosen to embrace the cancer experience.
    Here's the reason.
I received my breast cancer diagnosis in 2010, just two days before Christmas. Far from a holiday gift, it seemed like the end of the life I knew—one filled with running 100 miles and cycling a century (a 100-mile bike ride). I transitioned from these beloved activities to being unable to run or bike.
Indeed, cancer altered my life in unexpected ways; some changes were positive, while others were profoundly negative. Initially, I viewed cancer as a death sentence. The inability to foresee my future was both terrifying and paralyzing. I underwent surgery and treatment of 6 months of chemo and 31 days of radiation.

However, my introduction to HERS made me feel pretty again. It marked a turning point. They taught me to live in the moment, one step at a time. They revolutionized my life, helping me see my scars as victorious marks of my journey. Rather than taking days for granted, I learned to cherish each one.
My first visit to the HERS Program Store in 2011 left a lasting impression. Two elegantly dressed women welcomed me at the entrance, offering me a sense of confidence instead of self-doubt. As I entered and surveyed the surroundings, I found a sanctuary of beauty—a place where surviving breast cancer was synonymous with feeling beautiful. It was a haven filled with love and care.
