Why Haiti?

A little over an hour by airplane from Miami, Haiti is the most impoverished nation in the Western Hemisphere.

78% of the population lives on less than $2 per day
50% of elementary school aged children are not enrolled in school
25% of teachers have never attended high school
Half of children under the age of 5 are malnourished
With only 25 doctors per 100,000 people, access to healthcare is a challenge

Through the partnerships we are forming, we are contributing to positive, self directed changes in the community and regions we serve.  We meet annually with a council of villagers to assess the priorities of Grand Boulage, as well as making several other trips throughout the year to monitor our efforts.
