Hi, my name is Celia, and I'm doing the Badger Challenge because I think its very important to fight cancer and to raise the funds for cancer cures. I think that it's really unfair that diseases can take away people we love, and let us watch them wither knowing that there is nothing we can do about it. I did not understand this at the time my dad was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a terminal cancer. I thought that he was going to get better, get well, and stay alive. I didn't even consider the possibility that he was going to die. That's why it hit me so hard when he did. I know this now but still the tears come when i think as i have a million times before about what I could have done to prolong his life. I look back over and over wondering what I could have done differently. I think about him all the time, and I wish there had been something I could have done to prevent his death.

I was about eight years old, December 1st, 2022, Thursday. It was an otherwise ordinary day, and I had just been at my friend's house. It was about seven o'clock when her dad drove me home. I skipped into the living room, not noticing the strange quiet. I went into the living room where I saw my mom, aunt, grandma and brother all sitting in the living room, the stone floor feeling cooler than usual. My mom said she had to tell me something and I replied “what?” in a cheery tone. “Papa died.” 

The memory of those words are as solid and vivid as a stone in my hand, although after her words the memory is just a mix of confusing flashes and emotions. I remember running to his room because of course it couldn't be true, it just… couldn't. The sobbing hit when I discovered he wasn't there.

And the worst part is that this is still happening to people all over the world, and we can't do anything. Because death is unfair. It's just unfair and it sucks. It just sucks. So please if you could help fund cancer research that would help and you would be changing the world alongside anyone else who joins in. so help us fight. Please help us fight.
