This November marks ten years since we lost Laura, a milestone that still feels both impossible and deeply real. Laura was one of those rare people whose presence filled every room — fierce in her loyalty, generous with her laughter, and endlessly devoted to her family and friends. She was a bright force who made life better simply by being in it.
Laura faced lymphoma with the same strength and fire she brought to everything else. During her treatment, she spent countless hours at the UW-Carbone Cancer Center, a place that offered her world‑class care, compassion, and hope. It’s a place that continues to push forward lifesaving research — research that gives families more time, more options, and more reasons to believe.
This year, in honor of Laura’s life and legacy, I’m participating in the Badger Challenge and dedicating my miles to her. I’ll be running a half marathon on September 27th as part of the Badger Challenge, and then taking on the Madison Full Marathon in November, just days after the anniversary of her passing. These races are my way of carrying her spirit forward: strong, determined, and full of heart.
Every dollar raised goes directly toward advancing live saving cancer research at the UW-Carbone Cancer Center — the same place that cared for Laura and continues to change the future for countless patients and families.
I’m doing this because Laura deserves to be remembered in motion, in community, and in purpose. I’m doing this because ten years later, her impact is still felt. And I’m doing this because I believe in a world where fewer families have to face what hers, and so many others, have faced.
